This course is designed to teach young learners the importance of proper behavior, polite manners, and the art of table setting, helping them to navigate various social situations with grace and confidence. Learn the fundamentals of good etiquette, including polite greetings, respectful communication, and proper behavior in different social contexts. Explore the dos and don’ts of dining etiquette, such as how to use utensils correctly, the proper way to sit at a table, and polite eating habits. Gain hands-on experience in setting a table correctly for both casual and formal occasions. Understand the placement and purpose of different pieces of tableware, including plates, glasses, and silverware. Practice appropriate behavior in various social settings, including parties, restaurants, and formal events. Learn about dining customs from around the world to enhance cultural awareness and respect for diverse traditions. The course is structured to be interactive and engaging, featuring a mix of lectures, hands-on activities, role-playing exercises, and group discussions. Learning Goals
By the end of this course, students will be able to: Demonstrate understanding of basic etiquette principles and apply them in everyday interactions. Exhibit good table manners that reflect respect and consideration for others at the dining table. Correctly set a table for various dining scenarios, recognizing the appropriate tableware for different meals. Navigate social situations confidently, displaying polite and respectful behavior. Appreciate and respect international dining customs and etiquette practices.

Table Manners

Students will discuss various dining scenarios.
Lesson 2:
Table Setting
General Table Setting Guidelines
Students will complete a drawing of a formal and informal table setting and share with the class.
Lesson 3:
Restaurants
Restaurant Etiquette and International Dining - The country you are visiting may have very different dining etiquette rules than what you are used to.
Students will chose a country to research their cultural table etiquettes
Lesson 4:
Meal planning and table setting.
Students will create a meal plan for their family that includes, 5 course meal and table setting. Students should make a video recording of their family meal and table setting to share with the class.
