Class Experience

This camp is designed to teach children essential manners that will help them become happy, confident, and well-functioning global citizens. Rather than enforcing old-fashioned rules that turn children into silent robots, the camp takes a fun and interactive approach. The camp has a themed structure with quests that challenge campers to earn etiquette badges, which can be rewarded by grown-ups at home. These badges will be based on the topics covered in class and can be earned at any pace that suits the family.

During live meetings, campers will discuss the "manner of the day" and complete a page in their etiquette journal. The aim is to encourage learners to share their thoughts and ideas in a safe and inclusive space. Some pages may need to be completed outside of class time depending on the group's size and personality.

To make the experience even more enjoyable, parents or guardians are encouraged to reward campers with a "treasure chest" after they have earned all of their badges.

The camp includes nine live classes, but recordings will be shared for those who are unable to attend some of the sessions. The schedule of topics covers a range of essential manners, including introductions, listening, patience, making friends, sharing, solving conflicts, being a good host, table manners, and sportsmanship.

Schedule of Topics:
Week 1: Introductions, Listening, and Patience
Week 2: Friends, Sharing, and Solving Conflicts
Week 3: Being a Good Host, Table Manners, and Sportsmanship

Supply List
Learners will be provided with a PDF page to add to their journal. The page will need to be printed before class. I would suggest having a folder or binder to keep their pages in. They will also need a printer to print the badges. Glue, a pencil, and scissors will be needed.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from State University of New York at Fredonia
Hi there! My name is Ms. Amanda and I am an experienced online teacher with a background in childhood education and Spanish. After graduating from the State University of New York at Fredonia, I taught first grade in Arizona for two years before moving to North Carolina to open a business with my husband. In North Carolina, I taught GED and ESL classes at a community college and first grade for two more years.

Despite my love for teaching in the traditional classroom setting, once my son was born, I decided to stay home and pursue my passion for teaching online. Since then, I have been staying at home with my two young children while teaching online classes with OutSchool and teaching ESL classes to children in China. I also worked as a content producer for a children's literacy app.

I have a passion for helping children learn how to read, which is a crucial foundation for lifelong learning. As an educator, I believe in instilling a growth mindset in my students, where they are encouraged to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes, and ultimately reach their full potential. I look forward to working with your child to help them develop their skills and build their confidence in the classroom and beyond.
