In this one-time course, students will learn about rhetorical argument devices that are used in advertisements through a discussion of the elements used by businesses to persuade people to purchase their products.
Class experience
Students will learn the rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos through this course study. They will look at advertisements and how companies use these appeals to sell their products to their consumers. Throughout the study, we will look at several examples of traditional and modern advertisements in both still-image (photograph) and video form.
