This is a 5-week class where your student will learn how to write 3 main types of essays. This is beneficial for any student and I try to make the process fun! Grades are given for those who wish to have them.

Beginner - Intermediate Level

5 lessons//5 Weeks
Week 1Lesson 1Intro to EssaysWe will cover types of essays, the proper layout of an essay, thesis statements, outlines, organization, and more. Students will work on thesis statements at home and submit them.Week 2Lesson 2Sentences and Punctuation ReviewWe will cover building better sentences, correcting punctuation and capitalization errors, and work on Narrative Essay layout and thesis practice. Students write Narrative Essay this week.Week 3Lesson 3Sources, Citations, Opinion WritingWe will cover(in-text citations, works cited pages, topic sentences, thesis statements, and Opinion Essay layout. Students write Opinion Essay this week.Week 4Lesson 4Persuasive Writing and Citation ReviewWe will practice citations, works cited pages, thesis and topic sentences, and Persuasive Essay layout. We will also work on summarizing and paraphrasing information from resources. Students will write a Persuasive Essay this week with outline.Week 5Lesson 5Final ReviewWe will have discussion on mistakes made, their struggles, and review on what's needed through a fun review game.
Students will leave class knowing how to construct a solid essay in all three main forms: Informative, Persuasive, and Opinion.
I have taught for many years and I am certified in various subjects, but have been certified in English for 8 years. I have taught in the classroom and in the largest Charter in the US. I have worked with students for many years on their English and grammar skills and I still see students who struggle. When students leave me, most have a solid grasp on the topic I have covered. I like making learning fun and interactive.

They will have a little homework weekly to finish their writing, but most will be done in class.Assessments Offered
Participation and writing assignments will serve as assessment.Grades Offered
Grades will be provided via request but require students to submit weekly work to be graded and then averaged at the end for an overall grade. Please let me know the week you enter class if you wish to have a grade, and I will keep track of progress throughout the class.
They just need to be prepared to use Google Docs. This makes it easier for me to give my feedback.
