What's included
1 live meeting
35 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Each week a classic film will be showcased for students where they will learn about its background, production history, significance in film history, critical reception, and how it is received in a contemporary setting. The goal is for students that are interested in film history or film making to start building their knowledge of what has come before and put it into a modern context. All films will be rated G, PG, or PG-13; no R-rated films will be showcased. The majority of the lesson will be lecture and discussion with a slide presentation, which may include a clip or two from the movie itself. The class will not present films chronologically, but rather balance out time periods and genres to keep each week fresh and interesting. Students are encouraged to watch the film before class, but it is not required...I hope you join in the fun! Initial Schedule: Week of Jan. 3rd: City Lights (Charlie Chaplin: 1931) Week of Jan. 10th: Back to the Future Week of Jan. 17th: The Wizard of Oz Week of Jan. 24th: Star Wars ("Episode IV: A New Hope")
