This class is a comprehensive fractions course. It can be used to review missed concepts from elementary school or for preparation to enter a pre-algebra course. Learners do not need to have background knowledge in fractions, but should know their multiplication and division facts well before starting this class. If you're unsure whether this is the right class for your learner, feel free to send me a message! I will present the terms and concepts during the live classes. Learners will work along with me on some problems. There will be activities to complete in Khan Academy after every class that follow along with what we are learning. Learners should be committed to doing the outside of class activities for further practice in order to master the concepts being taught. Topics by week: Week 1/2: Fraction Intro, Fractions on a Number Line, Equivalent Fractions Week 3/4: Comparing Fractions, Common Denominators, Decomposing Fractions Week 5/6: Adding and Subtracting Fractions with Like and Unlike Denominators Week 7/8: Adding and Subtracting Mixed Numbers, Word Problems Week 9/10: Multiplying Fractions and Mixed Numbers, Word problems Week 11/12: Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers, Word Problems, Review

Krystal M (she/her)
I'm a homeschooling mom and college instructor living in Colorado. I have a master's degree and enjoy teaching a variety of math and life skills classes on Outschool. I teach on Outschool part-time.
Math Classes
I have experience teaching math from elementary school through college. I taught for several years in the public K-12 school system prior to moving to the college level. I love working with learners who are having trouble grasping a concept and need some extra help!
Personal Development and Executive Functioning Classes
Part of my college teaching involves working with incoming students on executive functioning skills and study skills as part of the first year college experience. Building these life skills in middle school and high school gives learners a head start on creating these important habits.
About Me
I have 3 children of my own, along with two kitties and backyard chickens. I love reading, gardening, cooking, teaching, camping and traveling.
Learning should be engaging and fun! I look forward to meeting your learner!
My policies:
I recommend that learners have their cameras on and participate fully to get the most benefit out of classes. Class recordings are not shared in social classes for learner privacy. Class recordings in academic classes will be shared if a learner was absent and needs to access what was missed.
