The way I teach this skill is very easy to learn and your child will be prepared for success in Trigonometry.
I will show students how to do an exercise on the white board. They will learn by actually doing example exercises during class. I will repeat with another exercise and will explain as many times as needed until the students are ready to do the exercises by themselves. Once started, I will check their answers for accuracy and follow up with any necessary explanations. I encourage all participants to try as many exercises as possible. I follow up the class with an upload of homework with the solutions.

Learning Goals

This short course exposes students the basics of trigonometry.
The class also enhances critical thinking skills.
The student will learn how to manipulate trigonometric expressions.
The skills learned in this class will enhance math skills considerably.

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Rationalizing Radicals.
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will learn or review the concept of rationalizing radicals(square roots).
This an important skill that is on the SAT exam,as well as other classes, like algebra and geometry. Proficiency in this skill essential.

Lesson 2:
Introduction to sine(x), cosine(X) and tangent(X)
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will learn or review the relation between the sides of right triangles. knowing how to solve these special triangles is a required skill for the SAT exam among other mathematics entrance exams.

Lesson 3:
Angle of Elevation and Angle of Depression
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Building on the skills learned in lesson 4, students will learn about the angle of elevation and depression. Working on these exercises reinforces skills previously learned in earlier lessons.

Lesson 4:
Reciprocal Identities
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will be used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises. Immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections. Students will learn the relationships between sine(x) and cosecant(x), cosine(x) and secant(x) and tangent(x) and cotangent(x).
Conversions between these relationships will enhance the students math skills considerably.

As a private tutor since 1995 I learned that students want a math teacher who is friendly, non-judgmental and is interested in their success in math.
Students want concise and simple explanations.

I have developed my own method of teaching this skill.
I have successfully taught this skill to hundreds of students .
Once you learn it you will never forget it.
After watching Khan Academy and You tube videos on this topic I have seen nothing like the method I teach.
This skill is essential in order to learn trigonometry properly.
I provide quality instruction to your child, you will be glad you chose me as his/her math teacher.
