Informal assessment based on opportunities throughout class to show what they know and have learned as we go. This does not mean you have to write out the essay, simply that they can teach you how to prepare for it if you were to write it!Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Essays can be frustrating and confusing for young learners, and even for older ones too! However, it is an essential skill that will serve them well! I want to take the confusion out of essay writing by teaching your child a step-by-step approach to this often daunting task! With over 15 years of teaching experience, as well as holding a Master's of Education, your child will learn unique tools that will help them succeed essay after essay, year after year! Day 1: The first ingredient to a successful essay is INSPIRATION!!! The class will begin with a presentation on Ball Pythons, during which time your children will be able to meet some of my very own Ball Pythons! Following the presentation, we will brainstorm our ideas for our persuasive essay before plotting them out. This foundation sets the tone for the entire assignment and becomes our guide that will keep us on track. Day 2: We will begin discussing how we can back up our opinion/thesis with big ideas supported by facts as we pull knowledge from the presentation from the previous day. We will complete a solid introductory paragraph before class wraps up. Day 3: We will develop our three body paragraphs, followed by our conclusion paragraph. The end result will be a good copy of this particular essay. Day 4: We will now put everything we learned into practice, creating a second essay with a new topic. This will solidify everything they learned in the previous three classes. Each class will grow upon the previous, and in the end, your child will be able to show you how they can prepare for an essay so that they can stay on track, on topic, and organized in their writing! The next time their teacher asks them to write a five-paragraph persuasive essay, they will know exactly where to begin! ***Grammar, punctuation, synonyms, descriptive language, and more will flow throughout the classes as we develop our essay***

Teacher expertise and credentials

Do you have an animal lover in your life? Or perhaps a future zoologist, veterinarian, or conservation minded young learner? Then you've come to the right spot!
My name is Marie, and as an Animal Science teacher, I would love to teach your child all about the amazing animals in this world!
I have taught over 20,000 students on Outschool, and I have 18 years of experience teaching at all levels.
I believe in eliciting as much student output as possible. Learners are encouraged to ask questions (and to share knowledge on each topic) as we learn together.
When I am not playing an instrument, I enjoy watching every nature show in existence alongside my children, learning as much as I can about the weird animals in the world so that I can bring it to the classroom and share it with your child!
I look forward to meeting your learner in class!
Ms. Marie
