Hello, my name is Jill Carlyle. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a concentration in writing and rhetoric. I am a certified 6-12 English Language Arts teacher at a private school in Brevard County, Florida. Additionally, I am currently pursuing an MA/Ph.D. in English and Creative Nonfiction Writing and a Graduate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies.

I am excited to share my passion and knowledge of writing, reading, and language arts; my goal is to help students rise above various roadblocks.
I am a lifelong learner and believe that to stop learning is to stop growing: one is never too old to learn.
Students will compose one essay per week.
Enrolled students must have access to Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Classroom. These are FREE services when you have a Gmail account. Google Classroom is the platform used to submit all work and allows me to effectively provide feedback and comments line by line, within the document. Parents who are uncomfortable providing their child's Gmail address may use their own (Gmail) address. All instructional videos and materials will be provided by the instructor and posted to our Outschool and Google classroom each week. Students will be sent an invitation to the Google Classroom three days prior to the start of class. Please message me if you have any questions regarding these procedures.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed weekly through line by line feedback and a (personalized) summarized overview of their work.
The instructor's feedback is very detailed and thorough.
Students can expect a 48 hour turn-around time on all submitted essays IF they are submitted by the due date.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
