Students will improve their essay-writing skills, including how to organize their essay as well as identify and understand the main parts of an essay. Students will gain confidence in the writing process. Students will gain important writing skills such as organization, writing a thesis, creating an outline, citing sources, and more.

I have been a public school teacher in Massachusetts for over ten years. I have taught English to both middle school and high school students of all levels, and I have also taught special education courses during the summer.  I have been trained in executive function through the Landmark School courses and am Orton-Gillingham trained through the Orton-Gillingham Academy. 

Homework Offered
Students may be asked to work on specific parts of their essay if we do not finish it during class time. An example of a homework assignment would be: 

1) Finish brainstorming ideas for your essay
2) Finish writing your thesis statement
3) Complete the conclusion paragraph of the outline
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be graded on participation and effort. They will also receive rubrics for their essays that will show them their strengths and weaknesses.
