In this class we will study the foundational elements of essay writing using favorite video games as our topic. Modern video games are an art form that deserve discussion and analysis. In this on-going class there is no set agenda. Each week students and instructor will meet in the class to discuss video game topics as brought up by the students. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their game related writing projects and receive input from the instructor and classmates. No supplies are necessary for the class. Students will learn how see games with new eyes as they learn at their own pace how to analyze the elements of the games they love to play. They will then learn to apply their new vision of their game into written words as they create an essays, reports, reviews, and fan fiction on the subject.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have an M.A. in English; authored numerous essays, short stories, and novels; and taught critical reading and writing along with creative writing for over ten years. I raised all eight of my children as the timeline of video games unfolded. We've had, and still have, so much fun. The art and creativity that goes into a good video game is something I respect. There is much to be said and written about the subject.
