Description

Class Experience

Students will learn to create strong thesis statements, vary sentence structure, use strong verbs, and provide substantial body-paragraph evidence in their writing. They will learn to provide body paragraphs that support their thesis. Students who are applying to high schools and colleges will learn to write humbly but also in a manner that shows they are excellent candidates for the schools of their choosing. They will learn the power of persuasive writing. Additionally, all mechanical errors will be corrected so that papers are without punctuation errors. Students will learn to begin their work with a "hook" and end their work reemphasizing the thesis. They will be shown ways to demonstrate parallelism and compelling thoughts through their writing.
Students will need to implement the edits we discuss in class before they submit their essays to their teachers or schools of application.
Students will submit their rough drafts for edits either before class or during class. They need to know how to screen share if they submit their work during class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
