Essay Basics: Persuasive (4 Square Method) *Recommended for STAAR Prep*

We will cover persuasive essay basics, including writing an effective argument, evidence, tone, essay structure, paragraph structure, how to break down and understand a writing prompt, and how to apply personal interests to academic writing assignments. The price includes a second week follow up with each student. Students will have time to brainstorm and discuss ideas during class. 1. Break down and understand a writing prompt. 2. Form and back-up an argument. 3. Write a proper thesis statement. 4. Write complete paragraphs using TEDLs. 5. Replace vague words with detailed descriptions. 6. Identify all necessary components of an essay. 7. Properly use the Four-Square model.

A complete rough draft essay.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
