Esperanza Rising Novel Study and Universal Human Rights Study
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 6
This class is more than just a novel study. Students are reading this novel and studying the Great Depression and the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights). In their own time, students will read the assigned chapters. Then when we meet we will compare what we have learned in the reading to basic human rights that all people deserve. This class will stretch students and give them the opportunity to apply a novel to real-life situations. If you are looking for an engaging story...
** Students will learn to ask and answer text-dependent questions. ** Students will learn to ask and answer questions that take them beyond the text. ** Students will learn about The Great Depression. ** Students will develop an understanding of basic human rights promised to all individuals.
