Esperanza Rising Novel Study and Universal Human Rights Study

In this 5 week study, students will read the story of Esperanza and find relationships between what is happening in the novel and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This is a study in history, human rights, & reading comprehension.

Class experience

US Grade 4 - 6
** Students will learn to ask and answer text-dependent questions.
** Students will learn to ask and answer questions that take them beyond the text.
** Students will learn about The Great Depression.
** Students will develop an understanding of basic human rights promised to all individuals.
I have taught this unit in person and have had great success with students growing in knowledge and reading comprehension.

I always encourage parents to be aware of what students are learning.  Parents are encouraged to look over all work posted to the classroom and are invited to read the book alongside their child if they wish.
