ESL Stuck on Sticky Sounds: Reading Automaticity Building With Conversations
In this ongoing class, we will practice saying quick sounds and then put them together to read the whole word automatically. This is good practice to build automaticity and confidence. We will also have conversations during class!

Does your child need a boost to move from sounding out each letter to reading whole words smoothly? In this ongoing "ESL Stuck on Sticky Sounds" class, we’ll practice blending sounds quickly to build confidence, automaticity, and fluency. We’ll use a helpful strategy called backwards decoding—starting with the vowel and rime, then adding the beginning sound—to read words more easily. Students will also read short stories and engage in conversation to strengthen both reading and speaking skills. Below is the progression of the class although Teacher Holly will adjust as needed: Week 1: Beginning/Ending Blends with Short Vowels Week 2: Magic E Week 3: Magic E Week 4: Vowel Teams Week 5: Vowel Teams I'm hoping this class helps to build confidence in your young reader!
