Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Come join me and bring your favorite items to share! In this class, we will learn conversational skills such as how to introduce ourselves, greet each other, ask questions, take turns, share our ideas and participate in basic public speaking through show-and-tell. In this class, we will build a sense of community as we get to know each other and build relationships with classmates. This is a one-time class, however, students are welcome to take this class more than once. Each time you take this class, it will be a unique experience with different show-and-tell items and possibly new classmates. Before class begins, you will receive a show and tell topic (e.g., something soft). Students are encouraged to bring an item that relates to the topic. They will also be welcome to share another special item that does not relate to the topic. Here is a general outline of what to expect in this class:
Students will introduce themselves to the teacher and their classmates. I will model this for students and help as needed.
We will sing a welcome song together
We will discuss important things to mention when sharing our special objects (e.g., WHAT is it? WHERE did you get it?, WHY is it special?)
I will model how this looks and sounds by sharing my own special object.
Students will take turns showing their object and talking about it. I will assist each student as needed, depending on their English speaking abilities.
After each student shares, classmates will be encouraged to ask each other questions.
If there is time remaining after show-and-tell, we will sing a song and/or play a group game that encourages cooperation and speaking skills.
I am a certified teacher with over 8 years of experience in the classroom. I will use my expertise to guide and encourage conversation, while also allowing the learners to lead and direct conversations as appropriate. This class will help your child learn important English conversational skills and build their confidence when speaking with a group of peers. I aim to make every learner feel comfortable and safe to share their ideas. My goal is to ensure each learner feels excited to come to this class and knows that they are an important member of our group!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! My name is Danielle. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Youth Development as well as a Bachelor of Education degree. I am a certified teacher qualified to teach Kindergarten-Grade 6. I also have additional specialized qualifications in Reading and Primary Education and have taken numerous professional development courses focusing on literacy and mathematics. I also have my TESOL certification for teaching English. I consider myself to be a continuous and lifelong learner and am committed to embracing the challenge of professional growth in order to provide your child with the best possible learning experiences.
Over the past 8 years, I have been a classroom teacher and have taught many grades. I currently teach Literacy, Math, and Science to Junior and Senior Kindergarten students. I knew that I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and it is truly my passion. I strive to create innovative classes that keep my students engaged while learning at the same time. For the past 3 years, I have also been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to students through an online platform. I have taught thousands of ESL classes in person and online. I have taught English to students from all over the world including China, Peru, Mongolia, South Korea, Malaysia, Brazil, and Japan. It can be difficult for young children to learn through a computer screen, however, this experience has strengthened my ability to be an engaging teacher even while teaching virtually. I keep my students engaged by utilizing technology, incorporating movement when possible, making the content relatable, and learning through hands-on experiences.
I am a mother to a 3.5-year-old boy and an almost 1-year-old girl. As a parent, I know how important it is to feel informed when it comes to your child’s education. For this reason, I make open communication with parents and guardians a priority. Please feel comfortable contacting me, through the Outschool platform, if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s learning experience in my classes. I am passionate about embracing my students’ eagerness to learn and to enhance their growth as individuals. I encourage and welcome all learners in my classroom and would love to teach, have fun and learn with your child!
