Class Experience

Students will learn:

2. ESL Aural ability (training the ear to identify sounds)
3. ESL Listening skills
4. ESL Speaking skills (pronunciation, enunciation, communication)
5. ESL Thinking skills (analyzing, creating, predicting, memorizing, understanding)
6. ESL Ability to follow instructions
7. ESL Oral skills
8. Rhyming
9. ESL Story telling skills (focusing on recall, predictive skills, reasoning skills)
10. ESL Listening comprehension skills
Miss J is an international teacher (M.Ed. Bilingualism, M.Ed. ESL) with 15years experience:
1. ESOL (English to speakers of other languages)
2. ESL(English as a second language)
3. EAL(English as an additional language)
4. ELL(English language learning) teaching.
5. ESL specialist
6. Reading & Literacy specialist
7. ESOL certified (Kindergarten - grade 12)
8. Remedial specialist (Kindergarten - grade 6).

Homework is optional, I will provide additional materials that parents can use on off days to reinforce learning offline.
An art supplies list will be given in advance of each week's activity. 
**This is not an exhaustive list.** Kids should have the following available for use:
1. moldable material e.g. play dough or a preferred substitute
2. paper
3. child appropriate scissors
4. glue stick
5. 1 basic paints set & paintbrush
6. crayons
7. colored / coloured pencils
8. tape
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners are assessed formally: at the start and end of each section of this course.
Learners are continually assessed, informally during each class. Anecdotal records are kept and parents are notified as needed.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
1. Child appropriate scissors will be used to help aid in the development of fine motor skills. If your ESL learner is unable to use scissors then they can simply fold and tear paper as needed.
2. I will share my screen (screen - share) to play free YouTube videos. These videos will be relevant to and enhance ESLteaching. ESL Parents are not required to have a YouTube account as I will only use these videos in a screen-share.
3. Play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease. If your ESL child is unable to use Play-doh, any substitute of your choice is recommended.
