This 10-week Cambridge KET (Key English Test) course is tailored to help students build a solid foundation in English at the A2 level, setting them up for success in the exam and future language studies. As a Cambridge-certified teacher with years of experience, I guide students step-by-step through all aspects of the KET exam, ensuring they feel well-prepared and confident. What will be taught? The course is focused on developing skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, specifically geared towards the KET exam format. Students will learn exam techniques, vocabulary, and grammar needed for this level, as well as essential communication skills for everyday situations in English. What topics will I cover? Reading: Understanding main ideas, scanning for specific details, and answering multiple-choice and matching questions confidently. Writing: Structuring simple messages, filling out forms, and writing short responses clearly and accurately. Listening: Enhancing comprehension of conversations, instructions, and information given in various accents and familiar contexts. Speaking: Practicing everyday dialogues, role-playing scenarios, and expressing basic ideas and opinions clearly. Grammar and Vocabulary: Building essential vocabulary and grammar for A2-level communication, with themes like hobbies, travel, school, and daily routines. How is the class structured? Each week focuses on one section of the exam, with progressive practice and review. Early weeks emphasize skill-building and understanding the exam format, while later sessions include practice tests and exam simulations. Weekly homework assignments provide extra practice, reinforcing class material and helping students track their progress. How will I teach? My approach combines structured instruction with interactive learning: Practice Exams: Mock exam tasks under timed conditions help students become familiar with test timing and question types. Group Activities: Group exercises and discussions allow students to practice speaking and listening in real-life contexts. Individual Feedback: Tailored feedback on both spoken and written tasks enables students to improve their weaknesses and build strengths. Real-life Scenarios: Role-playing and practical exercises immerse students in everyday situations, making language use relevant and engaging. What’s my teaching style? I aim to create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks with their language. My teaching style is communicative and supportive, with a focus on making learning enjoyable and memorable. I believe in clear guidance, step-by-step practice, and celebrating progress, no matter how small. I use games, examples, and relatable exercises to keep students engaged and motivated, with a clear path toward their exam goals. By the end of this course, students will have a strong grasp of the KET exam format, the language skills necessary to succeed, and the confidence to communicate effectively at an A2 level. This class not only prepares them for the exam but also helps them build essential skills for real-world interactions in English. Drawing from my experience working directly with students in International physical schools for 15 years, I believe in making learning enjoyable and interactive. Through fun activities and supportive guidance.
