Beginner Level
This class is for complete beginner English learners (pre-A1 in the CEFR levels). I focus on developing spoken English skills while teaching basic vocabulary and sentence structure. Workbooks, flashcards, and lesson previews are included with every 25 minute lesson. This course will strengthen students' English skills in preparation for the KET exams. This class is offered once per week Monday-Friday I use the Abridge Academy curriculum for lessons. Before our first session, kindly let me know your child's English level and I will send you the preview, workbook, and flashcard materials. Class Objectives: Vocabulary: hello, goodbye, happy, sad, good, great, fine, tired, one, two, three, four, five. Vocabulary: the USA, the UK, the Philippines, Japan, China, Korea, red, blue, white. Sentences: What’s your name? My name is (Katie). How are you? I’m (great). Sentences: How old are you? I’m (five) years old. Where are you from? I’m from (Korea). Speaking: Giving a simple self-introduction. Listening: Understanding and answering simple comprehension questions about self-introductions. Week of July 29, 2024: The first 6 sessions include Unit 1, "Introductions". Week of Aug. 5, 2024: Unit 2, "Art" teaches colors and shapes and introduces simple “It is a…” sentence structures. This is an ongoing course. Future units include: Week of Aug. 12, 2024: Unit 3 - Fruit Week of Aug. 19, 2024: Unit 4 - Weather Week of Aug. 26, 2024: Unit 5 - Toys Week of Sep. 2, 2024: Unit 6 - My Body Week of Sep. 9, 2024: Unit 7 - My Family Week of Sep. 16, 2024: Unit 8- School Week of Sep. 23, 2024: Unit 9 - My Week Week of Sep. 30, 2024: Unit 10 - Time Students should have a basic understanding of the English alphabet and simple phonics. Familiarity with common greetings, numbers, and basic vocabulary such as colors, shapes, and everyday objects can also be beneficial. Learners should have a willingness to engage in listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities which is essential for progress in an English course.
