US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Beginner Level
**This class is for beginner ESL learners only. This class is suitable for children just starting to learn English as a Second Language. They do not need to have prior English knowledge. This class is not suitable for native English speakers**

Welcome to ESL for Young Beginners!

During this twice-weekly class, we will cover English listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will be introduced to the English language and will gain vocabulary, conversational skills, understanding, phonics knowledge to be able to read, and letter formation.

Each week is broken into two sections:
Lesson 1 will cover new vocabulary, listening and speaking skills.
Lesson 2 will focus on phonics, reading practice, letter formation, and comprehension.

I offer a fun, interactive, and lively approach to learning involving actions, songs, games, and lots of visual stimuli.

I have been teaching ESL online for 4 years now and prior to this qualified as a Primary school teacher. I am familiar with using props, TPR, error correction, and positive reinforcement. Most importantly, I am able to adjust my teaching style, planned activities, and lesson content to accommodate students abilities, needs, and understanding.

Each month we will focus on a different topic. We will start with All about me, covering greetings, family, numbers 1-10, and colours.

Here is week one's focus:
Lesson 1: Mondays or Tuesdays
This is me. Learning how to greet other students, asking and answering your name, age, and how you are today.

Lesson 2: Wednesdays or Thursdays
The letter 's' and learning to read 'I am'. We will read a story together practising reading and comprehension.

A typical lesson 1 will go as follows:
Welcome song and greeting with movements
Introduction to the days topic and new vocabulary
Vocabulary game
Sentence practice
Printable Activity
Show and share
Goodbye

Lesson 2:
Welcome song and greeting with movements
Introduction to the days topic and letter
Practice phonetic sound and associated words e.g. s - snake / sock / sun / sad / star
Worksheet to practice s recognition and writing
Introduce sight words of the week
Read a story together - practising the sound and new sight words
Goodbye.

Weekly printables are provided for students so that they are able to practice in between our lessons. These include vocabulary flashcards, the story, phonics and sight words activity, plus vocabulary activity.

Here is our upcoming schedule:
W/c 14.2: Colours e.g. blue, orange, green. It is blue. It is orange.
W/c 21.2: Fruit e.g. apple, banana, strawberry. It is a red apple. It is a yellow banana.
W/c 28.2: School Bag e.g. bag, book, pen. I have a book. I have a blue pen.
W/c 7.3: Family e.g. Mother, Father, Sister. I have a big sister.

This is a 26-week course is twice a week and focuses on speaking, listening, pronunciation, and new vocabulary in lesson one and reading and comprehension in lesson two. Once all topics have been covered, we will restart back to week one again.

Hello, it's lovely to meet you! I'm Catherine, a qualified primary teacher and home educator from the UK.

I am incredibly passionate about encouraging the next generation to be proactive with conservation and protecting our planet. You'll see many of my classes are themed around my love for animals, endangered species, habitats, and conservation.

Young students care deeply about our world, are enthusiastic and keen to learn about sustaining our planet. My classes are aimed mostly at 4-6 or 5-7-year-olds for this very reason.

As a qualified primary school teacher and ESL teacher, outside of my animal-themed classes, I also offer a range of fun, activity-led classes focused on phonics, book clubs, early math, and ESL.

Outside of teaching, I love nothing more than spending time in nature with my family. I have two children, 6 and 4, whom I home educate with my husband. We spend as much time as possible visiting nature reserves, local wildlife parks, and hiking with our dog. My DSLR camera is always on hand to capture the incredible sights we see, from migrating birds in winter to summer-blooming flowers.

Nature and the world around us is a huge part of our life. With my classes, I help young learners with a passion for our incredible world, by answering their questions, providing cross-curricular activities, and extending their prior knowledge.

My live lessons are often discussion-based within a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate. Flex classes offer learners an opportunity to study the content at a pace or time zone that suits them. Due to them being no live lessons, these classes are jam-packed full of cross-curricular activities for students to enjoy and share with their peers.

Interested in finding out more?! GREAT!

Come along and join one of my classes below. I cannot wait to meet you.

Catherine
