HOW: Gamified and interactive curriculum with sounds, music, and voiced characters.

>> Pre-Level 1 : Alphabet Phonics (THIS COURSE)
*The alphabet and then simple two-letter words.

>> Level 0 has two units that go over the main characters, (i.e. Penny), simple expressions (Hello, goodbye) and different colors.

>> Level 1: (PART 2 Course) -see me for details
*Each Unit has 12 lessons and 2 assessments. Each lesson builds on from previous one.

Unit 1 – Who Am I?
Unit 2 – Family & Home
Unit 3 – Friends & Toys
Unit 4 – Neighborhood & Transportation
Unit 5 – Food
Unit 6 – School
Unit 7 – Etiquette
Unit 8– Colors and Patterns

Unit 10 – Feelings
Unit 11 – Seasons and Weather
Unit 12 – The U.S.A.

*Will begin with alphabet before reaching Level 1. Please join when you think it will be the most helpful for your learner but review is always great! The order that the letters are taught are to help prepare students to begin reading two-letter words with knowledge of the vowels first and then adding some consonants into the mix.

Here is a guideline for what students would need to begin with Level 1 (PART 2 Course) versus starting with Alphabet Phonics: (So please join when you feel it will best meet the needs of your learners. Also feel free to join in sooner for review!)

1. Students should be able to read and sound out all the letters of the alphabet.
2. Students should know around 300-500 vocabulary words such as animals, colors, and feelings.
3. Students should be able to formulate simple sentences such as “This is a cat.”
4. Becoming emergent readers with three letter words such as dog, cat, ran (CVC words).

Hello! I'm Ms. Jennie, and I am SO excited to be teaching on Outschool! I have over 5 years of teaching experience in the public schools as a certified Early Childhood Educator (with ESL and LBS 1 (SPED) endorsements). I have currently been teaching on Outschool for about two years and came from a position where I specifically taught a classroom where everyone was an English Language Learner.

My background is with diverse learners, and children with unique needs. I have completed a internship that focused on ESL learners and have taught many in my previous and current teaching experiences.

I am also passionate about the field of Psychology, I have a minor in and looking to get further credentials such as certificates in Mindfulness etc.) and strongly believe in intentionally teaching social-emotional skills both explicitly as well as implicitly as opportunities naturally occur.

I believe learning should be fun, and I always try to find a way to tie the student's interests with my teaching and keep them engaged! I look forward to hearing from you, and how we can work together to best meet the needs of your learners!
