Description

Class Experience

Students will build their vocabulary to include words used in science, math, and geography, as well as those used to talk about school, home, and family. 

Students will build vocabulary through discussion and exercises about antonyms and synonyms. 

Students will build vocabulary and accuracy when using homophones and homographs. 

Learners will learn to analyze and build words using prefixes and suffixes.

Week One
Week of September 11
Topics: Vocabulary List One: adjectives and adverbs, Vocabulary List Two: prefixes and suffixes
Instructional Videos will be posted on Sunday and Thursday
Written exercises will be posted on Monday and Friday
Adjective and Adverb crossword puzzle 
Prefix and suffix Kahoot!
Creative project: write an acrostic poem using adverbs and adjectives from Vocabulary List One

Week Two
Week of September 18
Topics: Vocabulary List One: antonyms, Vocabulary List Two: synonyms
Instructional Videos will be posted on Sunday and Thursday
Written exercises will be posted on Monday and Friday

I have earned a BA in English literature, an MA in technical writing, and a Ph.D. in English texts and technology. My education has allowed me to teach English to middle school, high school, and university students for more than 20 years. 
Students will complete assignments, games, and the optional creative activities at their own pace each week. 
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
