Description

Class Experience

In this party class, students will discuss Valentine's Day, read a Valentine's Day-themed book, and create a heart-themed craft. I will provide direct instruction about vocabulary and will ask questions to encourage discussion and casual conversation. Students will read a book with my guidance followed by a Kahoot! to assess comprehension and encourage having fun while learning. 

Party Schedule
0-5 minutes: quick introductions
5-10 minutes: vocabulary game 
10-15 minutes: storytime

Students will learn new vocabulary. They will also practice speaking, reading, and listening skills. To promote learning during this party class, I will give immediate feedback about word choice, pronunciation, and grammar. 

Our goal is to have fun and celebrate a holiday while progressing our English language skills.

I have been teaching for 21 years and have a BA in English Literature, an MA in Technical Writing, and a Ph.D. in English Texts and Technology.

Constructions paper in white, pink, red, and purple
origami paper (15 X 15 cm) red or pink 
Pen and pencil 
glue stick or tape and scissors

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Kahoot

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Students will need to use scissors and use the Kahoot! website. I will provide a link to the game. Creating an account is not necessary.
