ESL - Daily Calendar Routine - Lit. Focus 2: Vowels and Blends (CEFR: A1, A2)

Students will learn and establish a daily routine for talking about the calendar in English. This will include basic math and literacy concepts.

Dr. Vania Scarborough is an experienced, compassionate, and creative ESL teacher with over one decade of teaching experience including higher education instruction, ESL teaching, and virtual language instruction. She has many years of experience applying the Pearson ™ English Language Teaching (ELT) methodology to her ESL classes with a high degree of success, as attested by the highly positive feedback and praiseworthy reviews she has received from her many former ESL students. She also holds a Postgraduate Degree in the health care field from the International University of Barcelona and a Doctor in Dental Surgery degree from a prestigious South American university. Dr. Scarborough frequently brings to bear her experiences as a Certified Red Cross Instructor, and her ample knowledge in healthcare, to her ESL classes where she uses common human experiences, and the universal language of medicine, to make her classes fun, dynamic and extremely relatable to people of very different backgrounds and cultures. She also draws from her over five years of specific ESL teaching experience, and solid, pedagogical training in effective classroom management and teaching, to give her ESL students a highly professional and effective language immersion learning experience.

Mrs. Haywood - I have 20+ years of experience immersing students in grades PreK through Grade 2 into the English language. I have a TEFL certificate. I currently teach ESL online to students in China ages 3 to 12. 

No homework will be assigned for this class. I only encourage students to use their developing literacy skills regularly by making connections in their daily lives as often as possible while watching, reading, listening to and participating in the world around them.  

Learner progress will be assessed daily during each lesson as the teacher sees and hears that the student has become independent in reciting the information learned during the calendar routine. Students will be able to ask and answer questions on their own. Students will have individual turns to demonstrate progress and understanding. Parents can also assess their own child's progress as they become more independent during their participation in class as well as how they are using learned information outside of class.  

2 hours 5 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
