This is a drop-in class. Students can come as many times as they like and choose a new topic each time to share with the class. The goal of this class is for students to practice conversational skills with other ESL learners by sharing their interests, passions, and talents. This class is an all-immersive American-English class. However, some translations in the student's native language will be provided to help them make a quicker connection to the English terms, phrases, and ideas they wish...
Students will learn how to engage in English conversation by using familiar topics chosen by the student to share with the class. Students will be expected to learn proper online classroom manners as well. Students in this class are expected to show patience and support for their classmates. We will practice by asking questions to build conversational skills. This class is meant to be very interactive.
I have a 120-hour TESOL certificate. I have also taught over 6,000 online ESL classes for VIPKid, Qkids, GoGoKid, and SayABC. I have experience teaching 1-to-1 private lessons, 1-to-4 small group lessons, 1-to-many large classroom-sized lessons. Although I enjoy teaching a set curriculum, I most enjoy connecting with my students when they share their interests with me. I have many supportive props and techniques to help your student feel more confident with their English.
The teacher will leave helpful advice and encouragement in the feedback after class. Some corrections might be suggested, but homework will not be required. Parents can request a private tutoring session as well.
Please bring something to share (object), idea, talent, or interest. Each student will be given a short amount of time to share. Then students will be encouraged to engage with other students about their project as well. Be prepared to ask questions.
Progress is assessed with the ability to interact positively with other students and the teacher in class.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students may be exposed to different cultures from around the world. The teacher cannot know what the students will bring to share, but appropriate things are encouraged. Nothing unsafe or dangerous to the student will be allowed.
