This course is focused on building literacy skills. It is targeted for ESL learners, however, 4&5 year old native learners may join. Also learners who need some extra targeted practice are welcomed. If your child is 3 years old but hasn't practiced online learning, I recommend my 3-year-old preschool class. In this course we will focus on developing reading readiness skills through games and modeling. We will start the class by practicing writing a couple letters properly. Then we will do word work. This will be blending sounds into words, segmenting words, identify certain parts of the words, and building words with letters. After word work, we will learn to read a short story with sight words. This will help students learn how books work. We will also do a lot of word work with sounds. This will help students link the sound to the letter symbol. These concepts will be there own lessons so students do not need any prior knowledge. These mini lessons will be standalone lessons. If students need a movement break it will be added. Also, teacher will adapt the lesson to the students needs. Each child will be challenged to their abilities. During this course the students will practice their listening skills by listening to the teacher and taking turns with classmates. Learning will take place through games, movements, and student output. Week 1: April 24th--farm Week 2: May 1st--park Week 3: May 8th--school Week 4: May 15--transportation Once your student is enrolled you will receive an email about what is needed for the upcoming class. This will change based on the concepts being taught.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Audrey, and I am so glad to be here and am excited to share a little about me. I love learning and teaching. Every day is a day to learn something new no matter how old we are.
I attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri earning a bachelors in elementary education with an emphasis in early child. I then went back to school and received my bachelor's in communication science disorders which allows me to be a speech therapist assistant.
✔️5 years substituting teaching
✔️1 year student teaching
✔️1 year kindergarten teacher
✔️1 year preschool teacher
✔️3 years ESL teacher for VipKid
✔️5 years homeschool tutor
My classes are developed to help students have the foundational skills to become lifelong learners. Also, there are classes that are developed to help students to build on their desires and passions, so they can meet their goals.
I believe every learner has the opportunity to learn if they have a good attitude and the right environment. The environment makes a big difference on the learner's attitude. In my classes, I always engage as many senses as possible, since research shows that stronger neural pathways are formed when more senses are engaged! Students also take control of their own learning by asking questions and sharing what they know.
I am more a facilitator and try help where is needed and ask engaging questions.
Some fun facts about me include a love for outdoors, spending time with family, and reading. Alex, my dog, looks like a fox. I always like to learn something new and now I am learning to play the piano.
