US Grade 6 - 9
This one-time lesson introduces the world wonder known as The Great Pyramids of Egypt. Students will learn the basic answer to who, what, where, when, why, and how regarding the pyramids. To make it a fun learning experience, it is structured as an escape room where students solve riddles, answer questions, put things in order, etc as they find their way out of a pyramid to understand the history, purpose, and myths about one of the greatest wonders of all time. This helps the students learn facts about the pyramids in an interactive way. Depending on the class size, students will work as a whole class or in small groups. There will be a presentation slide show that students will go through to read the adventure, solve the problems, and record their clues. There will be plenty of discussion between students and the teacher. No prior knowledge is needed. All material will be screen shared on the teacher's screen. Learners will need nothing outside of Outschool's Zoom classroom.
Learning Goals
Students will gain introductory knowledge of who built the pyramids, where they are located, what is inside the pyramids, when they were built, why they were built, and how long it took. They should be able to summarize the information by the end of class.
