US Grade 5 - 8
This one-time lesson introduces the world wonder known as the Colosseum. Students will learn basic information about the Colosseum by completing various activities. To make it an engaging learning experience, it is structured as an escape room where students solve riddles, answer questions, put things in order, etc in order to understand the Colosseum and collect numbers to unlock the room and escape. This helps the students learn facts about the Colosseum in an interactive way. Depending on the class size, students will work as a whole class or in small groups. There will be an interactive slide presentation that students will go through to read the adventure, solve the problems, and record their clues. There will be plenty of discussion between students and the teacher. The teacher will either guide the whole class in a small group setting or be available to help and answer questions in a larger group that will be split into smaller working groups. No prior knowledge of the Colosseum is needed. This escape room uses 1 YouTube video, Google Slides, Docs, Sheets, and Forms. In some groups, the activities will be screen shared by the teacher. In others, students may access the activities by making copies of them. No login will be necessary to copy, use, or complete the activities.
