Our escape room participants will be explorers sent to find the sight word sapphire in a mysterious jungle. Using age appropriate sight word skills (detailed below), students will solve questions and clues together as a team to cross a rickety bridge, swing from vines, dodge an animal stampede, and more! This class will be done as a group of video participants. Clues will be read, timers will be ticking, and team work and positivity will be key. The general class outline is as follows: Warm-Up Activity (5 Minutes): Participants will be introduced to each other. We will complete a warm up sight word activity together. Review of Escape Room Rules and Q&A (5 Minutes): We will go over the escape room rules. Although not in a virtual escape room set, we will still have clues to be read out loud, timers counting down, on screen clues to be solved as a team, and questions are always encouraged. Escape Room (20 Minutes): Our escape room has six different roadblocks the escape room team must overcome. We will use the following curriculum skills to overcome these roadblocks: *Decoding and use of Level One and Level Two Dolch Sight Words (words commonly found in Grade 1 and Grade 2) *Use of compass directions Wrap Up (5 Minutes): Team members will share accomplishments and receive their certificates. Alternatively, certificates will be attached as a file directly.
