Students will listen to classical masterpieces by Stravinsky, Bach, Holst, Saint-Saens, Mussorgsky, and Grieg as they solve riddles and decipher codes to escape rooms of a haunted castle. Here is the premise of the game: "There is a castle that was once owned by a music conductor. He was a terrible conductor though, and the ghosts of the pieces he conducted now haunt the rooms of the castle, terrorizing the current owner. You are invited to visit the castle and assist the owner in getting rid of these ghosts! If you succeed, you will earn a lifetime supply of cookies. But if you don't escape in time, you will be trapped inside the castle with the ghosts forever!" Students will learn a bit about these pieces, and do a bit of basic music analysis along the way, but no previous music experience is required.
Learning Goals
Students will be exposed to a variety of classical pieces in a fun, accessible way.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Through my teaching, I strive to encourage a love and knowledge of music that will be valuable to the student for a lifetime! I enjoy sharing the vivid beauty and excitement of music, and helping students explore new sounds and masterpieces that open up new worlds of music to them.
I have taught music history & theory, music appreciation, piano lessons, and other music courses from preschoolers to adults, over the past 15 years. I currently teach piano lessons, and music courses at a community college.
I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy. My main instrument is the piano, but I also play the harp for fun, and I'm teaching myself to play the banjo. In my spare time, I enjoy discovering new music (the weirder the better!), modern art, eating dark chocolate, and figuring out how magic tricks are done!
