US Grade 4
You are ready to start fifth grade, but you are stuck in your fourth grade classroom! There is only one way to move from fourth to fifth grade. You use all of the math skills you learned in fourth grade to advance to fifth grade. In this one time class students will work alone, in pairs or small groups depending on class size and student preference to look around the virtual classroom to find clues to solve math problems to escape fourth grade and advance to fifth grade. Breakout rooms may be used to depending on the size of the class. Students will search around the classroom for clues. They will be given several math problems to solve to get codes to unlock the room. Teacher will facilitate and intervene as necessary to help each student be successful. Math topics are fourth grade level and the perfect way to review fourth grade curriculum before entering fifth grade. Some students may finish the escape room early. Should that be the case we will celebrate the early finish and the student will be allowed to leave the classroom at that time. Some students may take longer than one hour. The teacher will stay with the students as long as they wish to continue working through the escape room.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Lori. I'm a retired public school teacher in California where I taught everything from elementary school to middle school Language Arts and Social Studies. Since retirement I have had to opportunity to travel around the world and take up the hobbies of painting and cake decorating. Although I am enjoying retirement, I miss the interacting with students in an educational environment. I believe every student can be successful in any subject as long as they have the right teacher. I was honored by the State of California for my classroom management abilities and I firmly believe I excelled at classroom management because my students were engaged simply because they enjoyed learning. I believe in finding a student's strength and using that strength to guide my lessons.
In addition to teaching children, I have recently had the opportunity to teach community classes in acrylic painting and cake/cupcake decorating. I find the fine arts to be relaxing. I am in no way a great artist, but I enjoy the creativity of starting with nothing and having something beautiful in just a few hours that I created all on my own.
