Class Experience
In this historical escape room, learners will recreate the infamous 1962 Alcatraz prison escape by taking on the role of the inmates. We will begin by watching a short video that provides history and context as well as sets the stage for the escape. Next, learners will explore different areas of the prison to collect objects and information. Then they will come together as a team to share what they have found and form an escape plan. 55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class discusses real historical events that may not be suitable for some learners. While care has been taken to keep the class age-appropriate, there are some mentions of death and violence. Specifically, references to prisoners and guards who have died during past escape attempts.
