Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is an advanced equine science course for those students who have taken my Introduction to Equine Science course or those who have previous horse experience. Understanding the horses hoof and how farriers use their knowledge to help our horses stay healthy and sound is important for any equestrian. There is an old saying ...” no foot, no horse”.... The farrier is a very important part of our horses “health care team”. In this class we will discuss the following: Week 1 - Parts of the hoof, and farrier facts Week 2- Farrier tools and 5 steps in horseshoeing Week 3- Hoof diseases and we will wrap up with FARRIER SCIENCE BINGO! Additional YouTube videos will be provided for students to watch in between classes. These are not required, but recommended for further learning and understanding.
