Equine Evaluation: From the Judge's Perspective - Horse Judging

Class
Ms. Lora
Average rating:4.8Number of reviews:(5)
In this equine course, learners will develop an eye for horse judging as we engage in evaluating horses in various events, giving reasons and competing in a horse judging contest.

Class experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Intermediate Level
The goal and mission of this class is to teach students about different horse events, how to properly judge different classes, exactly what judges are looking for, decision making, public speaking and better understanding of the horse in relation to functionality.
In my high school career, I had the great opportunity to be a part of my FFA (Future Farmers of America) Horse Judging team. I competed with my team for all four years of high school. Each year, our team went to the state competition where I won gold each year among other highly competitive schools. After high school, I attended college and took horse judging courses to further develop my eye for judging. Now I serve as a judge at local shows as I am currently working towards earning my judging card for larger shows around the US.
Students should come to class ready with a pen or pencil and notepad. Teacher will provide scoresheets for students.
We will be using YouTube during class for examples of classes being judged. Teacher will provide judging scoresheets throughout the class for students.
