Class Experience

Students will understand the impact of trash on our environment and how they can help by making recycled art. Students will learn how to make a paper collage animal using found recycled goods and using techniques such as cutting, tearing, and shape making to create their art pieces.
I am an experienced elementary ceramic art teacher. I also have lots of experience working with students in elementary school and I have worked with all grade levels. I love teaching art and it is my favorite subject. My approach is encouraging creativity by giving students project guidelines and a variety of tools and techniques that they can adapt to their own unique artistic vision.
Before class students must find recycled goods they can use to create their art.
Have your materials ready before class so are ready to go! You will need: -Scissors -Pencil -Glue -Glue stick -Cardboard 8" x 11" or Construction paper (if not available use copy paper) -Recycled and found materials in the house (magazines, candy wrappers, cardboard food boxes, old gift wrap paper, scrap fabric, etc.) It is a good idea to keep all the collected materials in a box for students to easily access. Cardboard or construction paper is preferred as a canvas since they are thicker and will wrinkle less from the glue but are not 100% needed.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
