Class Experience

This class is for kids 12-17 who are interested in starting a business. We will discuss the different types of businesses, such as service, product, online, offline and then we will work through identifying a problem (in which they can offer a solution), how they can solve it, creating the solution, testing their idea, sharing their ideas to get improvement suggestions, building a business plan and marketing their product by spreading the word about their problem / solution.

Week 1: We will discuss being an entrepreneur. The class will discuss what they are interested in as a future business owner and each student will give an overview of their idea. We will discuss each idea and ways they could bring their idea for a business to fruition. A business plan template will be available for download.
Week 2: We will discuss ways to test each students business idea and the various resources available to launch a business. We will talk about ways they can find and reach their target audience, how to test their idea and potential resources for launching their business (website, local, word of mouth, etc). We will develop the business plan further by going through each section.
Week 3: Now that the students have discussed their idea, testing their idea, reaching their target audience and resources for launch, students will explore how to develop their product or service into a business. We will talk about business names, websites and branding. During this class students will work through their business plan.
Week 4: During this class students will present their completed business plan and their mock "business" to the class.
