Beginner Level
The class will run for 5 weeks (meeting 2x per week), following the course schedule below. Each class is 1 hour long. The students only need to bring themselves, a desire to learn about the business world, and a mindset that is ready to discuss, explore, and debate ideas. We use the case method approach, meaning that each class students will receive case write ups of a business scenarios and we will discuss and work through them live in class. Students will learn the foundational concepts necessary to successfully start a business. At the end of the course they will have preliminary business plan and thorough understanding of what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
I received my MBA from Harvard Business School and studied the case method approach extensively, including teaching and writing cases. In addition I have worked in the business world for over 20 years in various roles including as a corporate strategist, entrepreneur, and CEO. I've worked at start-ups as well as companies as big as IBM. In addition I've taught at Kaplan Test prep and tutored elementary through high school for over 15 years. My current role is Founder and Lead Teacher at Streetwise Lab, a company that teaches MBA style business curriculum to middle school students across the US.
Homework Offered
After each session students will take what they learned in the case discussion to apply to their own business plan development. We provide a template covering the various sections (pricing, marketing, financial targets, etc.) and they will complete it as we move through the course.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
