In this 6-week course, 3rd-6th graders will continue to build their vocabulary by unlocking the mysteries of Greek and Latin roots. They will learn a new set of roots and build on the roots learned in the first three classes.

If you have earned your Vocabulary Supersleuth badge from parts 1, 2, and 3 of Vocabulary Supersleuths, you are prepared to continue solving the mysteries of words! In this follow-up class, you will learn a whole new set of roots. We will use the roots from the first three sections, as well as our new roots, to determine the meanings of words. Students will increase their vocabulary and improve their spelling skills.
As a homeschooling mom, I have taught my own children Greek and Latin roots. This has prepared them well for the SAT, and has also helped them in their English classes. I also have a degree in elementary education.
Homework Offered
There will be some optional activities. For example, I will ask the students to be on the lookout for the roots we have studied in class. If they find one of the roots in a book they are reading, they can share their findings with the other students. They should also review the roots for a few minutes each day.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
