Description

Class Experience

Learning Goals will be set by students in collaboration with the teacher. Overall students will learn project management skills and Scientific Investigation techniques using Open Inquiry and Project Based Learning techniques. Students will be able to finish one project per course depending on work done outside of class, complexity of the project and what the final project display will be. Students wishing to refine their ideas, go more in depth in the project or would like to focus on doing the project during mostly in class collaboration periods are free to take this course as many times as they wish to project completion. The second course would focus on refining the project and giving more time and resources to complete the project.
I run a forest kindergarten and natural learning program using inquiry and project based learning. I have worked with families in the education field for more than 20 years. I have done project based learning, child directed learning and child centered learning.

I have my Masters of Education in Sustainability, Creativity and Innovation which focuses on Inquiry and Project Based Learning in innovative areas such as online learning.
Students are responsible for deciding any work to be done outside of class. Families may take the course again if they would like all work be completed within the class. The second course would focus on refining the idea and giving more time and resources to complete the project. This a viable option if families feel the students are more comfortable with higher levels of instruction or oversight during work periods.
Learner is responsible for setting goals and how the progress will be measured (timeline, depth of knowledge, ability to collaborate are some examples of goals to be assessed)
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
