Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Advanced Level
In this 26 weeks class, we will learn the Language Arts for third-grade or fourth grade. This curriculum is for the complete school year, and is broken into two-semester classes. After, the first semester you have to option to enroll in the spring semester class. This class will be relaxed and interactive. In this class, we will learn how to form sentences and recognize sentence fragments. We will venture into grammar and learn how to identify nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and more. We will learn about linking and helping verbs and how to identify them and use them. We will learn how to take an ordinary sentence and turn it into an exciting story to share with others. This class will equip your learner with all the necessary tools to move into the next grade. Below is a sample of what your learner will see in my class. This is only a sample.
Week 1
Sentence Structure- Types of sentences
Week 2
Capitalization rules and practice
Week 3
Punctuation rules and practice
Week 4- Parts of speech
Week 5 - Writing Skills

My teaching style is relaxed and stress-free. I believe if a learner is having fun and is engaged he/she will learn the concepts and those concepts will stay with them. The class structure is simple. At the beginning of class, the concept will be introduced and rules are given, we will practice the concepts through games, music, and practice. This class will be 30 mins 2 times a week and is fully interactive. There will be limited homework unless requested by parents. The student will get a full semester of Language Arts and will be able to sign up for the second semester in January. At the end of both semesters, the learner will have completed a full year's curriculum for third grade or fourth grade depending on which is requested. Only one grade level is taught, and learners can sign up the year following for the next grade level.
I periodically quiz or test the learner to make sure they have a good understanding of the lessons, but will not reveal to them that they are being quizzed or tested; however, parents will receive outcomes and suggestions.
Homework will be at the parent's will. I will assign spelling homework and later creative writing homework. I find most students don't turn in or attempt homework so it will be up to the parent to turn it in or make the learner follow through with assignments. If you do not see a time posted that works for you please let me know and I will see what I have available.
*****The syllabus is based off of our fifth grade lessons. I will be glad to message you a syllabus for your learners grade or age level. Syllabuses are subject to change due to student participation and ability.

Learning Goals

The learning goal of this class is to present basic 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Language Arts. To show the learner how to put these rules into use to form good writing habits. We will be covering the basic learning step for these individual grade levels.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Ashford University
I have been a teacher for over 20 years teaching Language Art as well as various other subjects. I have a bachelor's degree in education and I am TESOL and TEFL certified. I have been teaching English classes to foreign learners for many years. I have taught in private schools for several years. I homeschool all four of my children. They are all in college or have graduated from college. I love teaching and I love helping break down lessons so that the learner can understand them without stress. I love to challenge the learner who may be more eager in their education. I do believe in homework and turning it in on time. I will keep a grade book just as if I were in a brick-and-mortar school to show the learner's progress. I don't much believe in grades. except for accountability and to help me know if the child is struggling or needs to be challenged.
