US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
In this engaging English tutoring session for elementary students, we focus on building key skills in reading, writing, and comprehension. Each lesson is designed to foster a love for learning while targeting areas where students may need extra support. We’ll work on improving vocabulary, sentence structure, and basic grammar through interactive activities and creative exercises. Class Experience: This class is structured to be dynamic, hands-on, and engaging. Each session will begin with a brief review of previous concepts, followed by a targeted mini-lesson on a specific topic—such as sentence formation, reading comprehension, or grammar basics. We’ll use a mix of guided practice, games, and interactive exercises to reinforce each concept. Here’s how it breaks down: -Reading & Comprehension: We’ll read short stories and passages, followed by discussions and activities that help students understand the content and answer questions related to the text. -Writing Skills: Students will practice writing simple sentences and short paragraphs, learning how to organize their ideas clearly and use correct punctuation and grammar. -Interactive Learning: I use a variety of methods to keep things fun and engaging, including games, visual aids, and storytelling. Activities like word puzzles, matching games, and fill-in-the-blank sentences will help students apply new skills in a hands-on way. -Flexible Learning Pace: Every student progresses at their own pace, with regular check-ins to assess their understanding and ensure they’re gaining confidence in their skills. -Interactive & Supportive: Expect lots of one-on-one interaction! I provide personalized feedback and encouragement, creating a positive learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. Teaching Style: My teaching style is patient, positive, and interactive. I believe in making learning feel like a fun and rewarding experience, and I encourage students to share their ideas, ask questions, and take an active role in their learning. I use clear instructions, visual aids, and varied activities to meet different learning needs. For students with ADHD or Autism, I create a structured, calm atmosphere with frequent breaks and visual reminders to help stay on track. Interaction: Students will have plenty of opportunities to interact during class. This isn’t just a lecture-based session—there will be time for discussions, hands-on activities, games, and collaborative work. I encourage students to ask questions, share ideas, and actively participate in activities, so they’re always engaged and involved in their learning. By the end of the course, students should feel more confident in their ability to read, write, and communicate in English, all while having fun and growing their skills in a supportive environment.
Learning Goals
Reading Comprehension: Students will improve their ability to understand and analyze age-appropriate texts. They will be able to identify main ideas, key details, and answer questions based on what they’ve read.
Writing Skills: Students will learn to write clear, structured sentences and short paragraphs. They will develop skills in organizing their ideas, using proper punctuation, and applying basic grammar rules like subject-verb agreement.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Associate's Degree in Education from Vance Granville Community College
I have an Associate’s Degree in Teaching and am currently working toward my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at East Carolina University. I’ve also had hands-on experience as an intern in a second-grade classroom for a year, where I worked closely with students on reading, writing, and basic math skills. During this time, I developed lesson plans, provided one-on-one support, and helped manage classroom activities. My experience also includes supporting students with various learning needs, including ADHD and Autism, ensuring that every child gets the attention and tools they need to succeed.
This combination of formal education and practical experience has given me a strong foundation in teaching elementary students and helping them build essential academic skills in a supportive, engaging environment.
