If a student needs support with their English class content, I will not ask them to do anything extra after meeting with me or between sessions if they choose to work with me again. If a student needs enrichment, we will work together to come up with a reasonable amount of reading or practice.

Class Experience

*Please send me a message if you would like to schedule another time.

In these 55 minute, one-on-one sessions, I will cover whatever topics are most beneficial for your learner. I would be happy to help students who struggle in English class by focusing on topics such as reading comprehension, grammar, literary analysis, essay writing, and more. If your learner is struggling with a particular text, I would love to read it with them and discuss before they tackle related assignments or classroom discussions. I am happy to help with assignments from IXL, CommonLit, NoRedInk or any other web-based platform.

Students who excel in English class are welcome as well! Together we can work on advancing English related skills or reading and enjoying literature that will not be covered in their regular English class.

I am a licensed English teacher for students in grades 5-12 in the state of Minnesota. I grew up on a farm, I played sports and an instrument in high school, and I enjoy theater. I love connecting with students by asking them about themselves and discussing topics of their interest. I use humor quite a bit while working with students. I am exceptionally kind, gentle, and patient as an educator.

Please communicate what would be the most beneficial focus for our time together. I will come prepared with tips, topics for discussion, fabulous literature, and positive energy. During our first session together, I will take the time to get to know your learner, assess their reading or writing level, and ask them what they are interested in learning. This does not mean that I will ignore any parent communication or requests, but I will find ways to incorporate students' interests if possible. If you have any questions, please reach out!

Learning Goals

Students will learn something new, get their questions answered, or feel better about their abilities!

A huge focus of tutoring is boosting students' confidence. I will always take time to emphasize students' strengths so they can begin to feel better about the things they already know and do well.

I am a licensed 5-12 English Teacher in the state of Minnesota. I spent 4 years in a public school classroom teaching students in person and online. I have been teaching and tutoring on Outschool for a year, and I absolutely love it!

I am a patient, supportive, and gentle educator. I believe that it is important for students to create quality work, as opposed to students creating a large quantity of work that is low quality. I have also come to realize that a large part of my job as a tutor is to help boost my students' confidence. I will consistently praise students and point out the things they are doing well. I also use my sense of humor often while working with students to create a positive, comforting environment where they feel safe to learn and ask questions.
