Class Experience
This class focuses on English speaking, reading, writing, and listening through practice. Each class will focus on a text that we'll read, discuss, and write about. My teaching style is very student-centered. I believe students learn by doing, speaking, and collaborating with their peers. Therefore, this is NOT a lecture-style class. Students will learn English vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation through reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English.
Certified public school teacher - science grades 7-12 BA in Biology MST (Master's of Science in Teaching) Experience teaching science to ESL/EFL students. Experience teaching students from Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Experience working as an instructional coach, workshop facilitator, curriculum writer, and educational consultant.
I may suggest additional readings, videos, etc., that will be completed in the learner's free time. Completion of homework is optional.
I will provide a handout that students can print and bring to class (optional). If any additional supplies are needed for a particular lesson, I will place them directly in the class description and in the classroom discussion board.

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
There are times in which we will discuss potentially sensitive topics such as bullying, disease, and current events. All sensitive topics will be grounded in a text and discussed objectively.
I will use YouTube for educational videos (which I will do by sharing my screen). I may also provide links for videos for students to view after/between classes. I will create my own handouts and readings.
