Learners will practice speaking and listening by describing and guessing what is being described. The teacher will use a deck of flashcards or toy objects to determine a word to send to a learner in a direct zoom message. The learner must describe the object while those listening try to guess what is being described. The teacher will show the flashcard or object once it is guessed. The learner who was describing will choose a peer to go next. Examples might include animals, shapes, fruit, common objects, etc. Learners will be encouraged to speak and listen. Teachers will guide learners with prompts, cues, and body language while giving the learners the most opportunity to speak and guess. Learners can expect to have plenty of opportunities to speak in this class. They will also listen to peers speaking and offer help or ask questions as needed.
