US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This class is designed to be similar to that of a "Circle Time" in school, but will focus on English-speaking skills. I have been an ESL teacher online for almost 4 years and have Foundational and Advanced TESOL Certifications. In this class, students will practice various concepts such as letter identification, counting, number identification, names of animals/colors/foods/etc, sentences, and more through activities such as conversing, singing, reading, playing games, and answering questions. Typical class schedule will be as follows (this is a guideline only and may change depending on class structure/time): 1. Hello song/introductions 2. Calendar (We will discuss the date, the days of the week, and the months of the year.) 3. Letter Practice: We will sing the ABC song and then focus on one letter per class. We will discuss the letter, its sound, and words that begin with it. Students will also practice writing the letter if able. 4. Number Practice: We will focus on one number per class. We will name it, count to that number, count objects of that many, and act out the number (clapping, jumping, etc.). 5. Color Practice: We will focus on one color per class. We will identify it, each child will have to find something nearby of that color, and then we will identify the objects that everyone brought. 6. Theme Vocabulary: Each week will have a new theme for vocabulary learning. Themes will include animals, fruit, nature, shapes, toys, and more. 7. Free talk/conversation practice: I will show the students a picture of people or animals and we will practice using vocabulary/sentences to talk about it. We will sometimes also practice sentences for conversation (example: Teacher will say, "Do you like apples?" and students will respond with "Yes, I like apples" or "No, I don't like apples.") 8. Nursery rhyme: We will end each class with a Nursery Rhyme. There will be one per week and a picture will be shown while we recite/sing it. If there is extra time, students can do a "Show & Tell" with a special item of their choosing. Themes: Weeks of 4/16-4/30: Farm Animals Weeks of 5/7-5/21: Pets Weeks of 5/28-6/11: Zoo Animals Weeks of 6/18-7/2: Fruit Weeks of 7/9-7/23: Vegetables No prior knowledge is required. This class will meet 1 time per week and is an ongoing class, so students can attend as many or as few classes as desired.
