5 Week Story Writing
English Language Arts: Greek Mythology for Middle School Students
Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Before each class, I will post a PDF of the myth. We will read the stories in class together. In this highly interactive course, I will begin each class with a quick-write, a writing prompt related to the day's reading. Students will be given 3-5 minutes to write their responses, and I will allow time for students to share their writing with their peers. I will then read the myth, stopping periodically to check for understanding. After reading, we will spend the remaining time in class...
Students will improve their knowledge of Greek mythology, as well as their reading and active listening skills.
Homework Offered
Optional: Students will create a poster of a god/goddess/hero and post in the Classroom for teacher and peer feedback. The assignment will include research as well as creation of the poster -- approximately 2-3 hours.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
