Class Experience
🍏In this Language Arts class, scholars will learn and practice reading comprehension strategies and essay writing skills. The curriculum will be based on grades 5th-8th ELA standards. The key concepts that will be taught and reviewed will involve theme, character analysis, plot elements, grammar , figurative language, text structure, poetry elements, argumentative writing, informational writing, and narrative writing. I have several degrees : a Bachelor's degree in English, an M.A.T. degree in Secondary English Education and a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have been teaching 6th grade ELA for six years in the public school system.
In the event that students are unable to complete independent activities and assignments assigned during class, students are expected to complete the activity outside of class before the next meeting.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed throughout the lesson through informal assessments (activities), class discussions and written responses. Students will receive feedback throughout the lesson.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
