Beginner Level
What will be taught: Students learn words are verbs in sentences and how tell a verb that is an action or which only help. Students will learn to tell verbs have two parts, main verb and one or more helping verbs. Students will practice sentences in telling what is the main verb and helping verbs in sentences. Students will write verb phrases for sentences. Students will be challenged in a writing activity in using verbs and helping verbs. How will I teach it: Discussion, slides, white board, students will do a writing activity on their own and proofread sentences. Worksheets will be provided with answer keys for extra practice.
Learning Goals
Students will understand the main verb shows the action in sentences and the helping verb works with the main verb, and helping verbs do not show action. The student will also understand the main verb and the helping verb form a verb phrase.Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parental guidance is helpful in case of technical difficulty or help for logging on to the zoom. Students do not need any expensive toys, furnishings or other items. They do need well designed space that is safe for the student to do activities/projects. Parental guidance is necessary incase student needs help with an activity with guidance. Such as gluing, cutting with scissors etc. There are no third party websites that will be used for each week for the lessons or signing in for accounts.
