English Grammar & ELA Workshop for 3rd, 4th & 5th Grades: Interactive Notebook

Each week we will review a grammar concept (8 parts of speech, types of sentences, punctuation, homophones, prefixes/suffixes, sentence structure, etc.) and create a visual for our interactive grammar notebook. 

This class requires some prep work. Learners will need a composition notebook, scissors, glue, colored pencils/pens, and access to a printer. A weekly pdf will be provided for learners to cut and have ready for class. 

How is the class structured?
The class will start with introductions and an ice breaker activity. Next, I will introduce the topic of the day and we will complete the visual for the day. Learners will have the opportunity to complete tasks related to the topic. At the end of class, we will play a Blooket, Gimkit, or Kahoot game to reinforce what we learned. Blooket, Gimkit, and Kahoot accounts are not required to access the game.

This is an ongoing class and each class stands alone, so learners are welcome to join at any time!

Week of October 13: Compound-Complex Sentences
Week of October 20: Types of Sentences (Simple, Compound, Complex, Compound-Complex) 
Week of October 27: Plural Noun Rules 
Week of  November 3: Irregular Nouns
Week of  November 10: Relative Nouns
Week of  November 17: Possessive Nouns
Week of  November 24: No Classes
Week of  December 1: Apostrophes 
Week of  December 8: Possessive Adjectives
Week of  December 15: Possessive Pronouns
