Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
This is a weekly writing class for students who need to improve grammar and composition skills. Students come with material they are working on and practice writing, and Ms Tara gives real-time help for the specific writing project student is doing. For students who require direction on what to write this will be provided. This class is tailored to students attending.
Teacher Tara who is a professional writer will correct grammar and composition errors, making corrections online in real time for all students to see. (This is teacher modeling how to write and edit documents.) Students will bring actual documents to class or write during class. Teacher Tara will guide and direct on different types of writing including use of AI, essays, stories and lyrics.
Students may submit their written work which will be reviewed during class.
Teacher Tara will review and help students correct their written work, explaining the reason for any change needed in grammar or composition of a sentence, paragraph or essay.
This class will cover all grammar basics including capitalization, punctuation, formal sentence structure, use of parts of speech, paragraph writing, essay composition and formatting. Teacher Tara will devote about 15-20 minutes to each piece of written work with about four-eight documents per class being reviewed and corrected depending on the number of students present. Students who are present first will have their work reviewed first, and so on, during the study period.
If students want their work reviewed, send to Teacher Tara at least one hour before class, so it can be reviewed and edited during the class. Book reports, essays, responses to questions and applications, blog posts, website content, submissions, etc ALL are acceptable types of documents to submit for review. If students do to have their own work they will be assigned to write paragraphs or essays to do and be reviewed during the class. (Please be sure you do NOT include personal information on documents, such as student's name, school or address because all written work must be acceptable per the Outschool guidelines. Subject matter of documents must be acceptable per Outschool policies.)
For students who need to be guided 1:1 students can sign up for personalized tutoring.
Positive feedback is always used to boost student's morale and desire to write, while explaining the reason for every correction or recommended change.
